Who we are
Tennis Time Machine is a free site made and run by Ben, a tennis fan in the UK. He is responsible for how it handles your information, and you can reach him at the end of this page.
YouTube
This site uses YouTube API Services. Its clips are YouTube videos, played in YouTube's own player, and it uses YouTube's API to find, check and rank them. YouTube is part of Google, and the Google Privacy Policy explains what Google collects when you use YouTube's player.
Before you press play
Nothing from YouTube's player loads until you press play. Before then, your browser fetches each clip's still picture from YouTube's image servers at i.ytimg.com, as it would any picture, so YouTube can see your IP address and what browser you use. We ask your browser not to tell YouTube which of our pages the picture is on.
When you press play
Your browser loads YouTube's player from youtube.com and youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced address, and the player then contacts other Google servers, such as googlevideo.com for the video itself. From then on, YouTube may store and read cookies and similar data on your device, collect information about what you watch, and show ads, which it chooses and serves. All of that comes under the Google Privacy Policy, not this one, and none of it comes to us.
What your browser keeps
So you are not shown the same clip twice, your browser keeps a list of the last 40 clips it has shown you. It also keeps any Loved it or Not for me taps, with any reasons you pick. Both stay in your browser's local storage, on your device, and are never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
Cookies
We set no cookies for visitors. The only cookie this site ever sets is a sign-in cookie on the private page Ben uses to review clips. YouTube's cookies, once you press play, are covered above.
What we do not do
No accounts, no analytics and no advertising of our own. We do not sell or pass on anything about you.
Emailing us
Tapping "Something wrong?" under a clip opens your own email app with a message to Ben about that clip, and nothing is sent unless you send it. If you email him, that way or at the address below, he sees your email address and what you write. He uses them only to deal with what you raise and reply, and keeps them only as long as that needs.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, which records standard details of each visit, such as your IP address and the page you asked for, to run and protect the service. Vercel's privacy notice explains how it handles them.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice the only thing we could hold is an email you sent. Our reason for handling that email, and Vercel's records, is our legitimate interest in answering you and keeping the site running safely. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top says when.
